School Days School Days

First off I apologize for such a long gap between entries.  I was busy moving from Washington DC back down to college. I can now say finally I am all moved into my off campus house. Its my first time living off campus and so far so good. I have a very cute 3 bedroom 3 bath house that I share with 2 other girls. From my porch I have a great view of the lake, its great I got a rocking chair and sit out at night watching the sunset over the lake. Its not lake front but we are actually a row of houses back, still close. Classes started today, luck for me I only have classes on Tuesday and Thursday. Sooo excited I get a 4 day weekend every week. I should though look for a job eventually. Hopefully I can get a job as a server at a local bar downtown. Just to keep some money in my pocket for studying abroad and all next semester. My roommates are both awesome, great girls. This will defiantly be a fun year thats for sure.  I am just so excited to be back at school. I can't explain it but I love this town more than my own hometown. It just feels like home.... strange I know. O well I should get a jump start on homework.

Goodbye Beach

Tonight is my last night at the beach and in two days I'll be back at school. What a great way to end my summer. I am happy to report that nobody got arrested this year, and nobody had to go to the emergency room. Though we did have some close calls, we had a slight run in with the park ranger about using a 4 wheeler on the beach and I took too many migraine pills and slept/passed out for some odd 13 hours.  No big deal really. The town we stayed in this year is at the end of the Outerbanks. Usually we stay in the main island near civilization, however this year we are in B.F.E. (i.e Bum F*&# Egypt aka the middle of nowhere).

There defiantly is a big difference. Here we couldn't really go out at night or walk around. Instead we had to simply enjoy each others company... okay who am I foolin' we enjoyed the company of liquor the most. N0t that I am complaining, it just gets old after day 3 in the house. I am the type of person that likes to do things, go exploring, sitting down and relaxing doing nothing for a whole week isn't really my style. Don't get me wrong I love to sit at the beach listen to my Ipod and read a great book. I just can't do that for a whole week, I gotta break it up.

Tonight I packed the car and then we had a bonfire out on the beach. I am going to wake up my sister and head on home around 4am. You wouldn't believe the traffic if we didnt wake up that early! That being said I should probably go hit the sack
Goodnight and Goodbye Summer

The beach trip is almost over. :( Wow am I sun burnt. Monday it rained...I mean it rained cats and dogs. And since our beach house is out in the middle of NOWHERE everyone went to the bar and started drinking. We turned cranked the music loud had the drinks flowing it was fun. Then my absolute favorite drunk song came on.

Everyone has that one song they love when they are drunk, they scream/ babble loudly for it to be played...that your drunk song. Anyways my (and I probably am not alone) drunk song is Free Bird by Lynard Skynard. I proceeded to grab a pool stick jump on the pool table and belt out an air guitar Allen Collins solo. Everyone went nuts and unfornantly there more than one family member took a video of my "performance". I could never run for political office now haha, and my family has a permeant blackmail on me.

Anyways today I tried something new, I learned how to hang glide. My mother once gave me a great piece of advise, she said "Never pass up an opportunity". I try to live my life by that motto so when my uncle asked if anybody wanted to spend the day in Hang Gliding school I thought nothing of it. It was AWESOME. I think I am addicted. Its so peaceful just chilling out up in the air. Just the idea that you got yourself up in the air, without any help from a motor or machine is pretty cool. Anyways I'll have to post pics of me but you get the general idea.

I am writing this entry  on the back deck facing the beach watch a thunderstorm off in the distance. Its so pretty and amazing at the same time. Minus the whole light from the laptop its pretty dark and then all of a sudden the sky will light up as lighting strikes way out in the ocean.  Pretty shades of red and pink. Even though we have 30 people in this  one house ( its a very big house actually 11 bedrooms) I escape to the highest deck at night and just listen to the waves. It gets so dark out at night thats about all you can do.  I love the sound of the ocean something about it is so relaxing. I have been doing lots of writing at the beach, got a new idea for a song I am working on. Its somewhat frustrating I have all of these ideas for songs/lyrics/ chord progressions but as soon as I start trying to develop that idea something else pops into my head and then I get sidetracked with that idea. I know not that bad of a problem to have, I just wished I had more time to in the day. Maybe I will give up sleeping and eating then I will have more time haha only joking.

Cheers

Can't sleep so excited about the beach tomorrow. My sister and I are going to drive down around 4/5ish this morning. Its only a 5 hour drive so we should get there around 10am. Too bad we can't get the keys to the house until 2pm so we are just gonna chill at the beach, not a bad way to pass time.

Today was my last day of my internship, bittersweet. I defiantly learned a lot though. Real Estate is very interesting, and there is a lot of money to be made [and lost] it in if you are no careful.  I have already started to save for a house after graduation. I figure I am a step ahead of most college students at-least by thinking about owning my own house.

After work I treated myself bought a new camera for the trip. Hopefully this one will last longer than my average camera lifespan of three months. Car is packed got all I need; cooler full of beer, bathing suit, acoustic guitar, golf clubs,  surf board and some good books. Life is Good.

My family Needs It's Own Reality TV Show

First off I have to apologize for the quality of my last entry. I was extremely tired when I wrote that I could barley keep my eyes open, all the grammar errors! Well that aside summer is almost over! I will be back at school in the middle of August and next week I am leaving for the beach. A whole week at the beach with my mother's family. Luck us mom's got a pretty big family...4 sisters, 1 step sister and 2 step brothers plus all their kids. Its going to be crazy we got like 30 people in one house. Can you say chaos. I love it though, we have been doing this "mini family reunion" for the past three years.

And every year something crazy happens. Just a quick sample for ya 2 years ago a cousin got his hand stuck in a elevator thus we had to call the local fire department, then last year me and my three cousins had a "slight" run in with the local police department for having too much fun on the beach.  Needless to say there will lots of drama, and even more alcohol to get though this week. All I can say is the girls on "The Hills" don't even compete with all the drama that goes down this weekend. Hey thats a good idea for a reality TV series!  I like to think of mom's family like the modern day Clampetts (if you have no idea who the Clampetts are google Beverly Hillbillies).  Pics and maybe even a youtube video will be posted I promise :)

I am nervous though I have a big golf tournament on Sunday at the beach. Fingers crossed I will do well... especially with my family there and all.

I am so excited but kinda sad at the same time. See right after I come home from the beach I have two days to pack then have to drive down to school, so it means the end of summer for me. Gosh it has flown by.

Back from my trip to Boston. I just realized  how much I love airports. Strange I know, but there is something about airports that I love. I realize that after graduation I definitely want a job where I can travel. Not just a little traveling I want to travel everywhere. Long distances.  Its funny I always like traveling with a big group an entourage... a team. I really don't even mind having my flight delayed I could sit at the terminal and watch people all day long.  Just listen to my Ipod and watch all the people going to all different places all around the globe, its somewhat therapeutical.

Speaking of therapy, I have been writing more songs. haha writing is like my therapy, cliche I know.  It like all of a sudden someone has just turned on a switch ideas have been pouring out of me. I have to keep a notebook with me all the time,I never know when I am going to get a good idea.

I am so tired I am falling asleep writing this...

Stereotypes

Stereotypical Russian?
I am scared of Russians.

I know what you are thinking...

"Well that's kinda of problem K since you are going to be studying abroad in RUSSIA, and Russians are typically found in Russia."

My mom brought up the subject the other day.

"You don't wanna go to Russia, its cold and the people there never smile

Then I thought about it some and she was right. Look at American culture, the stereotypical Russian is a rather large man who is serious, mean and an alcoholic. O and who wears one of those fur hats with the ear covers.  They give off an aura of coldness (physically cold and emotionally that it) and they rarely smile. Pretty much the exact opposite of myself, okay most maybe a bit of the alcoholic part is true. But all and all the culture is completely different. Southern ladies have a reputation for their hospitality and their tactfulness. They are small, dainty and dressed to the nines.

That all being said I still want to go to Russia and I still plan on going to Russia come January. Breaking stereotypes is what this trip is all about. Going outside of my comfort zone, living spontaneously. Seeing what the world has to offer... what the hell could it hurt? I certainly have nothing to lose.

Just a thought
